Landmark article on autism care

One of the best and last gifts of 2024 is a landmark article on Developmental Relationship-Based Interventions for Autistic Children https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/02711214241303695 that was released for free open access on December 24th.

You may recognize many names among the authors, all people who are doing research in the DRBI field. This is the first publication to take on the task of creating a universally recognized definition of what DRBIs are, which is necessary for moving our field forward with such things as new the Developmental Approaches Certification Board and with peer reviewed outcomes research on DRBIs like what we are reporting out from the Positive Development Model.

This defining DRBI article provides the necessary framework to open access to care of families, researchers and payors for all DRBI approaches such as DIRFloortime, PACT, Play Project, VIPP and others.

We owe a big debt of thanks to Diane Cullinane, MD, who led the process over several years through multiple journal submissions, rejections, and revisions.

It’s an hour to be part of that team and the of the bigger DRBI community!
